It's all over.

Well fellow mimsyers... It's been a great pleasure over the last 4 and a half weeks to be working with you people. Would like to congratulate you guys on how you managed to pull such a massive piece of work out of that short period of time. Just wanted to say good luck to youse on your minor projects as well. Hopefully the minor project won't mess up your head too much that you end up like the kid in this video. I'm sure everybody on the engine team had a moment like this. Ironically, he's trying to play 'UNREAL TOURNAMENT'. Enjoy.

One more sleep!!!!

So the engine team is chugging along nicely with one more full day to go tomorrow.

Today they have been busy putting buildings, meshes, sounds, lighting and everything else, except the kitchen sink, into the game....but i am sure if there was a kitchen sink made, it would be in there.

By the end of play tonight they will have everything in, leaving us a day of testing, fine tunning of the game and sound and lighting tomorrow, before the launch of launches on Friday night, 6pm, the AIM centre at RMIT....just incase you have forgotten.

Everyone has done such a super awesome job, and the engine team is putting all your work and making it into the raddest game yet outta AIM. Ohh yes, you guys rule....YOU RULE!!!!!!!

Rock on
ONE MORE DAY!!!!

unrelated post

Sorry, but this is unrelated to Mimsy.

Because I won't be here early next week, I have to do my pitch this Friday morning instead. If there's anyone that will be round the studio at 10am, I'd love it if you could sit in so I'm not left pitching alone to the big bad teachers.

what's up and what's down with 3 and a bit days to go...

Well folks, as my year 12 co-ordinator use to say, 'its now the business end of proceedings'.

She isn’t wrong.

And with all the textures in, a final few touches to the avatar to be done, a couple of tweaks on the sound tracks, all that is left to do is let the engine team work their magic and make the Exposition of Mimsy look how the visionary concept team saw it all along; bright, bubbly, strange and intriguing.

So I guess other than that there is not much else to report. There have been a few hiccups along the way with strange terrain and faulty meshes, but that seems to have been all ironed out and now with a packet of Doritos, and a block of chocolate (the dark kind, you know the one, a few pieces and you cant sleep....ahhh my plan is working...work little engine team work!) they are here for a few more moments still to keep on track for our may 18th deadline and our may 19th launch.

Avatar Anims (FOR GAVIN)

Hey Gav, got your mail but i think instead of sending us 'animations.part05' you actually sent us '4.avi'. winRAR couldn't completely extract from the archive due to the missing file. So I could only view 1.avi and 2.avi.

Please send us part 4 ASAP. 2.avi is looking good.

Cheers

web update

Just incase you dont know, the website has a newer...shorter...name.

www.rmit.edu.au/aim/mimsy

so....check it out again.

Nice Terrain

GREAT JOB ON THE TERRAIN! Yeah the snapshot of the old one doesn't do the updated version with the 'rimmed' floating islands any justice. I can really get the feel of the space when i saw it earlier today. Can't wait till Monday when more stuff are crammed into that space and implemented.

One more week, engine guys. It all comes down to you guys now. Lookin forward to seing your magic on Monday. Over n OUt!

p.s. I'm still waiting for the playblasts of the anims Gav.

Million Dollar View

How picturesque is that. This is an old version of the terrain... I would get a new one, but engine team are too busy hogging the 'puters.

What's Up and What's Down

Congratulations ladies and gentlemen...

Production is now OVER! Well, almost. We, the producers, would like to thank everybody for their high quality and dedicated work.

The meshes are in. The textures are in. The sound is in... all except for soundtracks for 3 areas, which will be in on Monday. There is still some avatar polishing to be done over the weekend too, but come Monday all of the assets will be done and dusted.

We are, however, missing many of the personal images for the gallery. We need these in on Monday... no exceptions. They need to be 512x512 px, and can be coloured, B&W, photographic, whatever you want. If you fail to get them in by Monday, a picture of an asthmatic donkey will be hung above your name. You've been warned.

So now we bow down to the geeky might that is... the ENGINE TEAM. Everyone please bring these poor souls many cups of tea and biscuits next week. We are very confident in their abilities though... and have already been impressed with how the terrain and islands are coming together. Sam is one extraordinary rimmer.

We look forward to an exciting week next week, when all our good and hard work comes to fruition.

Exhaustedly signing out... Friday night is pub night.
The Producers.

P.S. And thanks to Lachlan for bringing in the Art Director of Pixar today for a chat, that was really great!

A week from today...

At approximately this time…
And exactly a week from now... The Exposition of Mimsy will be...complete.

How exciting!! And scary too, as that means there is only ONE, that’s right, one more day of the production team churning out stuff for the engine....
And ONE week left for the engine team to get cracking and dress the might fine terrain and put in all the meshes etc. Thanks to the super work and finessing on the terrain courtesy of Gav Mc. Now you must leave the computers alone and sunbake or something, we cant afford to pay you anymore.

Speaking of which, now is the time for everyone to be filling out their time sheets and calculating how many hours you have all done. Remember you're all budgeted 105 hours, and as much as we love love love your enthusiasm we want to keep this project under/on budget. Plus we need to give the engine team PLENTY of time to put the area together and test it.

That's why, tomorrow is the cut off day for production.

So for all your textures, mesh makers, animators and sound designers if you are super keen on finishing stuff off, go crazy and work as fast as your mouse clicking skills allow you and upload everything onto chatty by 5ish tomorrow night and we'll all be laughing.

Tomorrow, as you know, we have a meeting with the execs where we'll show a bunch of meshes and stuff in the terrain, which will be exciting...and then we'll let them get busy with their bad selves and go nuts on the engine...

Production team...one more day and then its beer time for you...
Engine team...the cups of tea will keep coming until next Thursday... (Sam takes his white with honey, Zev, white with two...as for Chris, Robby and Fletcher...i have yet to find out.)

OHHHH and dont forget your image for the credits gallery!!

Rock on
Peace out

-The Producers-

Next friday, its a date

Credit where credits due...

Hey guys

Just a reminder that tomorrow you need to give Juan a 512x512 image for the gallery, this is our credits room. This could be a sketch of yourself or something that reflects you or just a little sketch you want to put in there. It will go above your name and a description of your roll in Mimsy.
...Any probs? come and talk to Michael or Laura.
